Lorna Zaback - Photographer
I picked up my first SLR camera as a teenager and immediately fell in love with taking pictures.
After working with film (mostly black and white) for a number of years, I took a long break. In the past decade, however, I have rediscovered this passion of my youth, now in the context of digital photography, with its many possibilities and challenges.
Over time, I have drawn inspiration from well-known photographers and artists, but also from those I have met through photography clubs, workshops, exhibitions, and informal gatherings. Many of these people have become friends, and I am very grateful for the meaningful support and gentle encouragement they offer me.
Photography continues to inspire me to appreciate the miraculous world we live in.
The theme for this show - The Wonder of Water - particularly called to me. One of our planet’s most precious natural resources, it is critical that we sustain and protect it for ourselves and for future generations. As artists though, we have an opportunity in this space to honour, not only its existence but also its beauty, its power, its ability to profoundly shape our world.
